I want to comment on the 1940 Census. Many people, myself included, assumed that it would be possible to search any living relatives in the 1940 Census. It is possible to search by street address. Which is great if you know your relatives street addresses in 1940. Unfortunately, Nevada and Delaware are the only two states searchable by a persons name{index}. This underscores the importance of the Indexing Project, and the need for volunteers to assist in it. Ancestry.com does offer an email subscription which allows you to be informed when your particular state has been indexed. This is a bit disappointing, but is hopefully a temporary inconvenience.
